What is SSO?
LTI SSO is the technology that provides easy access for all the users from your LMS to the Qwiklabs platform and its courses. If the students are redirected to Qwiklabs using SSO from their LMS, there is no need to create a new account in Qwiklabs (it is created on the fly using the user’s account data from the LMS). This way the user’s accounts in the LMS and Qwiklabs are connected.
Basically, with the LTI SSO, all the users who have the access to respective courses in your LMS will be able to log in to Qwiklabs courses with just one button, clicking the link to the Qwiklabs course published in your LMS.
Which Google Certificates are available via Qwiklabs and how to activate them?
Currently, there are 6 available Google Certificates:
- Google IT Support Professional Certificate.
- Google UX Design Certificate.
- Google Data Analytics Certificate.
- Google Project Management Certificate.
- Google Cybersecurity Certificate.
- Google Digital Marketing and E-Commerce Certificate.
Please, inform GG4L Customer Support which certificates and courses you would like to activate for your students.
We would like to integrate Qwiklabs content into Google Classroom. Which Google account should we link?
It can be either the Google Classroom account of the teacher who is going to be teaching the Google IT course or the shared Google Classroom account in your institution. In the case of the second option, please provide the POC who can access the shared institution's Google account to link the integration under it.
Can we still integrate Qwiklabs content for our students even if we don’t use LMS (Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas, D2L, Schoology, or Google Classroom)?
Yes, in this case, we can integrate you and your students through our GG4L School Passport portal and you will be able to access Qwiklabs content through it.
In this case, we would need the following information from you:
- The name of your institution;
- The course names (course titles) along with the course codes that will participate in the Google IT Support Certificate program (to differentiate cohorts of students);
- The list of students and teachers along with their email addresses;
- Approximate dates when the course will begin and end. The students and instructors will have access to the links even after the end date.
The "course names" are the course titles, i.e. what the courses are called along with the course codes that are used at the registrar's office and in the course catalog during school registration (ex: Google IT 101).
Regarding course codes: those are not some specific codes, it usually comes with the name of the class that appears in your LMS that is going to participate in the Google IT Support Certificate program. The course code is usually a combination of letters and numbers that define the specific class from any other that has, for example, the same name.
We also can set up a standard class, without any specific codes, just some regular standard name. For example, Google IT Support Professional Certificate - “Semester_nameYear”.
How do I unlock the activities for the students?
Is your student able to log in to Qwiklabs, but when they log in, the course items appear as "locked"? As an instructor, you will need to SSO into Qwiklabs' instructor site to unlock the course items for students. You can see how to do that on this slide, and you will need to do so for each course in the certificate program.
Please note, if you don’t have joined students yet and you click "Activate All", the activities will be locked again as soon as the first student joins the course. That is why we would recommend you activate the activities only after the first student has clicked the link and appeared in the list of students for the instructor (in Qwiklabs). After that, the activities will stay activated for the rest of the students.
It is a feature of Qwiklabs, and such behavior is expected.
When will I see students in Qwiklabs in the Students tab?
The students will appear there as soon as they click on the SSO link to the Qwiklabs course. If the students are new to Qwiklabs courses, their accounts are created on the fly during the first SSO attempt from the LMS. If you have returning students who have already completed a portion of the content, their progress in Qwiklabs will remain and they can continue where they left off.
When will I see the grades in the LMS (Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas, D2L)?
First of all, the sync of data takes place only once a day, which is why the grades are not available in the LMS immediately. Secondly, the results that are below 70 percent are not pulled from Qwiklabs as they do not have Completed status. And lastly, only grades for the obligatory tests are being pulled, if the test is training - its result does not influence the total grade.
In order for the grades to passback to LMS, the student has to click on Qwiklabs deep link (from LMS assignment added using preconfigured LTI tool) and get redirected to the Qwiklabs module successfully for us to be able to record the needed LIS parameters and afterward transfer the grade back to LMS using the same LIS params.
How do I divide 2 cohorts/groups of students for using Qwiklabs?
In order to separate the lists of students on the Qwiklabs Students list, GG4L should generate a new set of links for the new cohort of students. Once the new links are generated by the GG4L Customer Support specialist, the instructor can publish the links for the new cohort of students in the LMS.
Please provide the following information to GG4L Customer Support (support@gg4l.com):
- The course names (course titles) along with the course codes and teachers’ names who will participate in the Google IT Support Certificate program.
- If you don't use LMS, please provide a list of students that will participate as well. If you use LMS, please skip this step.
- Approximate dates when the course will begin and end. The students and instructors will have access to the links even after the end date.
- The last name of the instructor to differentiate the courses (optionally).
What do we need to do to create a new set of links for the new course/ new cohort of students?
Contact the GG4L Customer Support team (support@gg4l.com) and provide the following information:
- The course names (course titles) along with the course codes and teachers’ names who will participate in the Google IT Support Certificate program.
- If you don't use LMS, please provide a list of students that will participate as well. If you use LMS, please skip this step.
- Approximate dates when the course will begin and end. The students and instructors will have access to the links even after the end date.

Do we need to contact your support team each time we need new links for Qwiklabs for the new semester?
In case you want to separate groups of students - yes.
Please provide the course names (course titles) along with the course codes and teachers' names that will participate in the Google IT Support Certificate program each semester so we can generate new links for you to use.
Please note, that you still can use existing sessions in Qwiklabs but all users from the previous period will show up in the list of students. If you have returning students who have already completed a portion of the content, their progress in Qwiklabs will remain and they can continue where they left off.
My students experience issues with Virtual machines while doing Qwiklabs labs. How to fix them?
Sometimes, the virtual machines load inconsistently (e.g. software that needs to be pre-loaded is not), in this case, users can end and restart the lab. Usually, it helps to fix the problem. Please try to attempt the task another way if possible (e.g. if updating software, attempt to do so from the application menu OR download the latest version from the internet).
If that doesn't work, you can also reach out to Qwiklabs support for live chat help via the "?" menu in the top right.
Please note that we are the middleware company supporting accounts provisioning to Qwiklabs. In case of issues spotted with Qwiklabs content, please contact the support team at support@qwiklab.zendesk.com.
When my students try to pass the quiz in Qwiklabs it keeps auto-submitting. What to do?
Please share the details with the Qwiklabs support team, you can reach out to them for live chat help via the "?" menu in the top right or reach out to the Qwiklabs Team at support@qwiklab.zendesk.com. Please provide the following information for them:
- student name
- browser used
- is this only happening for one quiz or multiple? For one student, or multiple?
Can I copy and send the link to the students outside of the LMS?
No. The deep links to Qwiklabs should be accessed from the LMS only. This way, GG4L can identify the user who is trying to access the courses.
Will my students have access to the Qwiklabs courses after the date stamp they see?
Yes. The dates are approximate for the students to understand how long the course completion will take. Unfortunately, we can not change the dates after the links to Qwiklabs were already generated. As long as the students have access to the Qwiklabs links, they will be able to access the Google Certificate Courses even after the end of the course datestamp on the Qwiklabs side.
Will students have their progress saved if they access the Qwiklabs course from a different link?
Yes, as long as they access Qwiklabs with the same email address they will end up in the same Qwiklabs account with their progress saved.
