School Passport rostering integration flow

Global Grid for Learning (GG4L) is a public benefit corporation with a mission to help promote the use of technology in the K-12 education environment. We do so by forming a membership-based alliance of application software providers and schools or school districts.

The vendor's application often needs to consume roster data from the school or district, and we help both parties by providing an interface between the two. It's called the School Passport Connect (Data-Sync) module. Data elements extracted from your Student Information System (SIS) and shared with consuming application providers are totally under your control with the help of a management console.

Depending on the Student Information System, data may be either extracted directly from a supported API or extracted and securely uploaded in CSV format using industry standards, such as IMS OneRoster, Clever Like Roster, etc.

The roster data integration consists of the following steps:

  1. Filling out an online form;
  2. Signing of Data Privacy Agreement;
  3. Data integration itself (gathering data from SIS & data sharing with Ed-Tech Vendors);
