Get started with Onboarding Wizard

Our Onboarding Wizard helps you quickly set up your account, import data, and configure essential settings

When you sign in to SchoolDay platform for the first time, it’s important to know what to do next. The Onboarding Wizard is a checklist that helps you complete key setup tasks so you can start using SchoolDay right away. It guides you through data imports, security settings, and EdTech management, making setup fast and easy. Completing the wizard steps helps you use the platform optimally from the start.

Import your first dataset

Start by connecting your first data source and importing your roster data. This step ensures that the platform is populated with the necessary records for users, schools, and applications.

Export data for the first time

Once your data is in the system, share it with other platforms used by your district. During this step, you will set your API credentials or other details based on the system you’re integrating with. After configuring the export settings, you can run a test export to ensure data transfers correctly.

Add another data source

Connecting additional data sources helps you get a more complete picture of your district’s operations. After importing, check that the new data aligns correctly with existing records to prevent duplicates.

Discover & manage all EdTech applications

Detect and protect against risks to Personally Identifiable Information (PII) by using Privacy Governance Console (PGC) within your district. To begin monitoring potential risks, first deploy the PGC Browser Extension and then share your data with PGC. This ensures better oversight of data privacy within your organization. Learn more about Privacy Governance Console.

Set up an Identity Provider (IdP)

An Identity Provider (IdP) simplifies user authentication, allowing district users to securely access district-approved applications. Setting up IdP involves selecting and configuring a provider that your district uses, such as Google or Azure. Once configured, it’s important to test the setup by logging in with a test user account to verify that authentication works correctly. Learn more about how to activate IdP.

View merging rules

To maintain accurate data, SchoolDay supports merging rules (Master Fields and Domains of Uniqueness) to handle duplicate records from multiple data sources. In this step, review the default merging rules to understand how they work. If needed, you can adjust the settings to better align with your district’s data management policies. For example, you may choose to merge duplicate user accounts based on email addresses or last names. Learn more about Merging Rules.

Enable MFA for any & all age of user

The SchoolDay MFA feature, Passport Login, adds an extra layer of protection by requiring users to verify their identity with an additional authentication factor, such as AD LDAP credentials, Face ID, or ID Card. You can also configure different authentication factors based on user roles. After enabling MFA, it's recommended to test the setup to ensure users can log in smoothly. Learn more about Passport Login.

Increase value by adding a second export application

In some cases, you may want to export data to more than one external system. This step explains how to add a second export application, like LMS, to your SchoolDay account. This lets you share data with multiple external systems and use the platform's full capabilities.
